Welcome Back!

July 20, 2014

Dear Lamar County Elementary Families,

Our summer break is coming to a close, and it has enabled the staff, parents and students to reenergize for the 2014-2015 school year!  As we approach the beginning of a new school year at Lamar County Elementary, I want to thank you for everything you do to support the success of our students, faculty, staff and administration.  Our first day of school is August 4, 2014.  A new school year is always exciting.  Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, math, social studies and science will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds on each year to reach state standards.

For both returning and new families to the LCES, it is truly my pleasure to welcome you to the new school year.  The LCES Staff looks forward to working with stakeholders to continue a tradition of excellence in academic, creative, emotional, and social growth for our students. I am committed to supporting the LCES Staff in providing a high quality, standards-based education that is focused on student learning and data driven results. It is an honor to be a member of the Trojan community!

Our community of learners is made up of outstanding students, a dedicated staff of caring professionals, active and involved parents/guardians, and a supportive community.   Communication among the entire school community enhances our success. I share information with stakeholders in a number of ways; on our school website, through monthly emails and this year and via Twitter tweets.  Please feel free to contact me anytime, as I am eager to build a partnership with you and share in this amazing task of educating our children.  Your ideas, questions, and thoughts are important, please share them with me.

We commend our students for their academic achievements. State test scores and classroom performances continue to show positive strides being made by our students. While we are filled with pride at the accomplishments of our students, we know they will need our continued help to succeed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.  I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success.

All students and their parents are invited to attend our Open House on Friday, August 1st from 2:00-6:00.  Lamar County Elementary will issue teacher assignments at open house.  All students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and other LCES staff members. Please explore our website often for information about current school news and activities.  It’s going to be a great year. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the coming school year.

With Trojan Pride,

Andrea Scandrett, PhD
